Chase Farm Park

Event details image 1

Chase Farm Park in Lincoln is the site for this inaugural fall festival, filled with day-long activities that celebrate the best of the season....Halloween, Autumn, and Hocus Pocus! This is the site where a Salem Village stood last fall when Disney filmed Hocus Pocus2.

There will be something for everyone, whether you enjoy shopping among some 75 artisans and vendors of seasonal goods, jewelry herbal products and more, or perhaps sitting is more your thing by visiting with one of a dozen psychics who will provide personal readings. There's nothing like a hayride in the picturesque hills of the farm to signal that fall is here. Add in a storyteller with a spooky story or two and the experience is made so much more special

Part of the fun of Halloween is dressing up and pretending you are someone else, for just a brief moment in time. Costumes for young and the young at heart are encouraged. There will be a costume contest for both children and adults. And for those who don't come in costume, we will have plenty of photo "booth" opportunities along with face painting and henna art. And as part of the play aspect, who wouldn't want to make their own wand at our wand making workshop.

A great line up of stage entertainment features international storyteller Len Cabral along with acts of amazing illusion with Circus Dynamics performing their magic. Of course, BeWitched will feature witches! Learn about the Salem Witch Trials and hear the stories of those women who were accused of being witches and then executed from professional actors from Reverie Theater Company. Discover how fashion could even dictate the impression that someone was a witch. Hear from a modern day witch dispelling the myths of witchcraft today. There will be "witch dancing" which will get everyone to join in this lively line dance. Taking in all these festivities will be a group of artists who will be painting various scenes in the park and then entering their work in a competition, which will be displayed for all to view. There will be food trucks, and snacks so no one will be left with an empty stomach!

In a nod to Hocus Pocus, there will be music, song and dance to the familiar tunes. Steve Feinberg of RI's Film Office will be a guest and talk about how Disney came to choose Rhode Island for their blockbuster movie.

Speaking of Hocus Pocus, the original movie made over 30 years ago has become a Halloween tradition, so we will be showing it as an outdoor movie (not a drive in) in the evening after the festival is over for everyone who enjoys this annual October tradition, or for those who've never seen it. As a special treat, there will be live entertainment at 6:30 pm prior to the movie with "The Salem Sisters," as everyone settles into their chairs, or blankets, all set in the landscape of Chase Farm.
